There was a Structure of the Day post a while back that said, "...the Burj Mubarak al Kabir in Dubai, United Arab Emirates..." Well, I was mistaken. It isn't a big deal. I just wanted to clarify that it is not in Dubai. It is in Kuwait City, Kuwait. Here is a link to the post. || Structure of the Day #10 (Future) || Have a great day, and enjoy the ARCHITECTURE!

Dazzling Designs || X-Seed 4000
One thing I don't understand from architects' visions are that they can be the most outrageous idea, but that is what makes architects creative, right? Keep that question in mind when you here today's Dazzling Design. Anyway, Today's Dazzling Design is the X-Seed 4000, which is the tallest building ever fully envisioned. In other words the designs are fully completed. So when they have the materials and money to construct it...they will. The X-Seed is proposed to be 2.485 miles high. By the way, that's over 10,000 feet!
It will be able to hold up to 1,000,000 people at a time. It's also a multipurpose building and will cost almost 1 trillion US dollars. The X-Seed 4000 is supposed to be built in Tokyo, Japan.

It is amazing what architects can envision. The X-Seed 4000 is the tallest structure that I've seen, and I will probably see a lot taller in my lifetime!

Church Sundays || Week 3
Church Sundays is back from a long vacation! I haven't posted Church Sundays in almost a month. It is time to get started! This Sunday's church is the Washington D.C. National Cathedral, and its name tells where it is. I went inside this cathedral in the summer of 2009. In fact, I have video of it. Forgive me if the camera is a little wobbly. My video taking skills weren't as good as they are now!
[ Video edited with Corel Video Studio Pro X3 ]
As you saw in the video, this church is pretty cool. I hope I can go back to the east coast again!

Today's ArchiPic #14
Today's ArchiPic is a cobra. What? Sorry, I meant it looks like a cobra. Oh.
This building is the cobra tower in Kuwait, an Arab nation.
It is not a building yet, and it could even be a hoax. But still, it's a cool building!

Blog UPDATE || 2/26/2011
Hello everyone. I have a few things that I want to update you on from my blog. First of all, HOUSES 101 will be taking over Illustrious Interiors. I will be stopping the series to continue through HOUSES 101. The series will include interiors. I felt like these two series were the same. So I gave it to HOUSES 101 to continue. Second of all, there's a new series that I started called "Dazzling Designs" which will be talking about future buildings that are being constructed or designed. I hope this will make your blogging experience more interesting! Thanks for reading and enjoy that ARCHITECTURE!
- Zach
Dazzling Designs || Blue Planet Aquarium
Welcome to a new series about future architecture. It is about any architecture that is currently being built or designed. This is the Blue Planet New Danish Aquarium in Copenhagen, Denmark. It will be one of the largest aquariums in Northern Europe.
Designed by Schmidt Hammer Lassen Architects, the aquarium is supposed to be completed in 2013. It is designed in an organic shape and is made to look like a water droplet.
These pictures are a little different from the SHL website. But it still shows what its design will be like.
HOUSES 101 || Thorp Houses
This is a kind of modern style called thorp houses. I think it means simple in form, but different in plan and materials. Just don't credit me on that, because I haven't really found a perfect definition for what they are. This house is designed by Pete Bossley Architects. I've visted their website, and it looks pretty cool.
The home is obviously one of a kind. It has canals of flowing water around it!
The inside is even more stunning. It is very elegant and modern. Well, this so called Thorp house looks really amazing. It couldn't get any cooler!

Weekend Night Lights || Week 3
It has been awhile since I've posted Weekend Night Lights and I'm glad to be back. I remembered last night to post Friday Night Lights, but it was too late. I keep forgetting every Friday night for some reason, but I remember for Saturday. Anyway, this is the third week of Weekend Night Lights. This weekend's city is Paris, France. It is also commonly known as "the city of lights".
Paris is the city of lights. It's one of the most beautiful cities I've seen.

Today's ArchiPic #13
Welcome to my thirteenth ArchiPic post! I hope you are glad to be here today because today's ArchiPic is again from Dubai.
This is the Dubai Smile or Arch Bridge in Dubai. It's not clear what the name of the bridge is. When it is finished in 2012, it will be the world's largest arch bridge.
It's amazing what Dubai is accomplishing. It almost seems like they are just trying to break world records.
I don't know. Even though I see new structures from Dubai every single day, I don't get tired of them because they never let me down. I always have trouble describing them in words. That's why I post the pictures!

Archilego || New York City
I'm back to Archilego, and tonight I am going to show you a lego city. New York City with legos to be exact.
What you can do with legos is really amazing, and just so you know, these buildings are a lot taller than you think.
A person had to put each little piece to make this totally awesome! Legos are a great way to show your creativity in architecture!

Belated President's Day: White House
I totally forgot about President's Day on Monday! As you know from Valentine's Day, I will continue the holiday specials. President's Day isn't as big as Christmas or Easter, but it's still a holiday. And to celebrate this belated President's Day, I thought I would show you the White House. Of course all of you have seen this famous structure. It's is one of the coolest white houses I have ever seen! Hah, hah.
The White House was built between 1792 and 1800.
The first president to move into the white house was John Adams, the second president of our United States.
The Oval Office is probably one of the most famous rooms in the White House. It's where the president spends most of his time. The beautiful colonial architecture will stand until the end of time. (most likely) No one can see the future, but that doesn't matter. Happy belated President's Day and enjoy the ARCHITECTURE! FYI: I'll try not to make another holiday belated!

Today's ArchiPic #12
I personally love the look and atmosphere of cabins. Especially in Colorado Springs, Colorado. I go there almost each summer. And we stay in an awesome little cabin in the foothills of the Rockies. We go to Garden of the Gods, which is a place with tons of huge rock formations. How is this about architecture? Well, you'll see for yourself!
Cabins in Colorado are real cozy! Step outside and smell the fresh mountain air!
Enjoy the ARCHITECTURE!
Special Edition: The Future of Dubai Part 2
The Future of Dubai Part 2
Here's a link to part one if you haven't seen it: The Future of Dubai Part 1
In this second part, I will be covering the plans in depth and what exactly the buildings that you saw in the video will be. Enjoy.
The first project is what is known as a high skyscraper. Hint the word "high". Actually, high is an understatement for what Dubai will be like. The project called Vertical City is going to be crazy. I mean mind-boggling. Here's a picture from Dubai.com to give you an idea of what it will look like.
Okay, that really isn't a good example of what I'm about to say. This "high skyscraper" is projected to be 2.4 kilometers high. Now, I didn't think that was a big deal until I looked it up. Did you know that 2.4 kilometers is 1.5 miles high? Yeah, I didn't. Words can't describe how high this building will be. It will also have 400 floors. The elevator trains' speeds will go up to about 125 miles per hour. For some more information about the Vertical City project go to: wikipedia.org
Next is the Dubai Towers. They are some of the most unique structures in the world. They are a future project in Dubai, and they will serve as the centerpiece of a project called "The Lagoons". The tallest out of the four towers is supposed to be 1,310 feet tall. Construction is currently on hold.
The design was inspired by the shape and movement of a candlelight. This is it for now on Dubai's future projects, but I'll be talking about Dubai more in the future. Trust me, there's a ton of things to talk about in Dubai! And until next time, Enjoy the ARCHITECTURE!

HOUSES 101: Google Sketchup
Welcome to HOUSES 101. It is my new series all about houses and their designs. Today, I will be covering Google Sketchup 7. This computer software allows architects to create virtual houses so that they can show their vision to an engineer. The program also allows the architects to make each little detail.
As you can see in the video, sketchup allows you to create a house fast and easy.
Sketchup is a great program for architects. The homes that we live in can be really cool. That would be awesome if I could design the house that I would live in! Maybe some day!

Today's ArchiPic #11
Hi everyone! Today's ArchiPic is one that will make you lose your balance, literally!
This "living on the edge" kind of style is called the Floating Castle. It is a structure in the Ukraine.
The building is an old farm house that is supported by only one cantilever. It is supposed to be an old bunker for the overload of mineral fertilizers. Well, that's one way to live on the edge!
Enjoy the ARCHITECTURE!

Blog Update 2/22/2011
Tomorrow, I'll be starting a new series called HOUSES 101. It will be all about house design. The new series will include cool pictures, CAD/floor plans, and every kind of style of home you can think of. (CAD stands for computer-aided design. It's pretty much computer software for architects.) HOUSES 101 is going to be awesome. All about houses, all the time. See you tomorrow.

Structure of the Day #12
Today's structure of the day is one of my favorites. It is a classic example of good old American ingenuity! The Gateway Arch or as it is commonly known as the Gateway to the West, is the center of the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial in St. Louis, Missouri. The Gateway Arch is the tallest accessible building in Missouri. It is the tallest man-made monument in the United States, standing at 630 feet or 192 meters. Construction was completed October 28, 1965. Is this monument cool or what? You can never have to much creativity when it comes to architecture!
This image is a great view from inside the Gateway Arch's observatory. Enjoy the ARCHITECTURE!

Today's ArchiPic #10
Today's ArchiPic is all about South Korea's future. These photos were originally posted by Design Boom. The design reminds me of Dubai! I wonder why? It is clearly futuristic and very ambitious.
These buildings are supposed to be built in Ansan City, South Korea.
These buildings look like they could be apartments or condos.
The future is coming really fast isn't it?
Enjoy the ARCHITECTURE!

Today's ArchiPic #9
It is not so funny anymore. Dubai is serious about their future in architecture, and I can prove it to you from Today's ArchiPic. The picture is called Blossoming Dubai from Crazy Junkyard, but I'm not sure what the building is.
It will be a skyscraper in Dubai's future. Resembling a flower blossom, it is currently being designed by Petra Architects.
This image is from Design42day showing Petra Architect's design plan. Dubai can blossom into a beautiful city if it wants, but flowers crinkle and die right? I don't know Dubai's future and no one does. Let's just hope for the best for Dubai. It can't last forever.

Welcome to Archilego
Welcome to Archilego, my LEGO posts. For this first post, I will be showing you LEGO Land in San Diego, California. Every single skyscraper, building, and even a lifesize car is all made from Lego's!
In fact, I've been to Lego Land myself, and these lego structures continue to amaze me. Imagine how many hours it would take to build one of these Lego buildings.
You can pretty much build anything with Lego's.
I'll see you next time when I get more indepth on Lego Land its Lego Architecture!

Blog UPDATE! 2/18/11
There's change in the air and it smells good and refreshing. First of all, today, I changed the Random Architecture post names to Today's ArchiPic. I just wanted to make it sound cooler and incorporate the words "Architecture and Picture".
Second of all, tomorrow, I will have two new mini-series that I will be doing now and then. The first one is "Illustrious Interiors" which shows the interiors of really cool modern buildings. The second one will be called "Archilego" this series is all about LEGO cities like at LEGO Land in San Diego, California. I will be showing off really tall, cool, and utterly amazing architecture made from just LEGO's.
Change is coming and it's coming fast. I'm excited about what my blog will turn out to be, and what it will be like in the future! I wish you all a good day of blogging, and I'll see you guys next time. Enjoy the ARCHITECTURE!

Structure of the Day #11
It's about time I did some Las Vegas buildings, and I think this one will be one of my favorites! The Luxor Las Vegas is a hotel and casino in Las Vegas, United States, and it was built in 1993. It is shaped like a pyramid and has 33 floors. The 120,000 square feet casino floor has 2,000 slot machines and 87 table games. The Luxor costed $375 million U.S. dollars to build and standing at 365 feet high.
Today's ArchiPic #8
Libaries are awesome for those book lovers out there. And this library will read you like a body language specialist. You know why? It is because this library is a library. I'm sorry I'll just show you the picture! This library is the Kansas City Public Library in Missouri, United States.
See, it's a library shaped like a libary. Okay, that didn't make any sense. I'm saying that there's giant books outside. That didn't make any sense either. Alright, I'll just shup up.
You know what? That just looks like a...never mind. I think you get it. I don't know how to explain what this looks like. But they say a picture's worth a thousand words, right? This library is a perfect example of that.
I would obviously rate this the #1 public library in the U.S. And I think you agree that this library is really cool. Enjoy the ARCHITECTURE!

Structure of the Day #10 (Future)
I really didn't think that I would see the day when a building taller than the Burj Khalifa, which is 2,717 feet tall, would be made. So it turns out that Dubai just likes to break world records! The reason why is because they are one of the fastest growing cities in the world, and with all that money coming in from tourism, it can build as much as it wants. Just don't get bankrupt Dubai!
Drum roll please. I present to you, 2016's tallest building in the world, the Burj Mubarak al Kabir in Dubai, United Arab Emirates! (I'm sorry, I just get real excited when I see the next tallest building in the world!)
Here is a graph comparing the Burj Mubarak al Kabir to other giant skyscrapers.
The building is scheduled to be completed in 2016. It will be 3,284 feet tall or 1,001 meters. Surpassing the Burj Khalifa by about 500 feet. The skyscraper is projected to cost $7.37 BILLION U.S. dollars! Now that's a 3,284 feet hole in your pocket! It will be able to house 700,000 people and create 450,000 new jobs for Dubai. In 2016, I dare you to get a plane ticket to Dubai and see this...MONSTER for yourself. Oh yeah, and send me picture while your at it. (JUST KIDDING) I would love to go to Dubai, but I don't have nearly enough money to go. Most of you probably don't either! Well, until then, see you next time! Hmm...Mubarak, why did they name it that anyway? Sorry, I almost forgot, "Enjoy the ARCHITECTURE!"
