Dazzling Designs | Millau Viaduct, France

Today's Dazzling Design is the Millau Viaduct in France.  The bridge is also rather old to be in my Dazzling Design series.  However, it is an amazing bridge, and with its extraordinary design, why shouldn't I put it in the series?  At 1,125 feet, it is the world's largest vehicular bridge and tallest bridge.  And don't forget that the bridge is 8,070 feet long!

The Millau Viaduct was designed by Michel Virlogeux and Norman Foster.  It was opened in 2004, and it is still a major bridge for Millau.  In the end, the project costed 394 million euros.  Back home that costs about 551 million dollars!  To wrap up this dazzling design, in 2006, the bridge was awarded the IABSE Outstanding Structure Award.
