This is a very beautiful cathedral in Lincoln, UK.  It's called the Lincoln Cathedral, and it shows the architects' creative visions.  From 1300–1549 the Lincoln Cathedral was the tallest building in the world.  It stood at 271 feet.  In the 12th century the cathedral was destroyed by an earthquake, but was rebuilt in the years to come.  The central spire collapsed in 1549, and it has never been rebuilt.  Although with it, the tower reached 525 feet at one time.  Then in 1549, the cathedral was shortened significantly because of the collapse.  The cathedral has inspired countless architects through the centuries, and it is still being admired today.

The Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in Sofia, Bulgaria, was built in a Neo-Byzantine style.  It was constructed between 1904 and 1912.  It can also hold 10,000 people inside with 34,100 square feet, and it is the biggest cathedral in the Balkan Peninsula.  The Alexander Nevsky is one of the largest Eastern Orthodox cathedrals in the world.

Church Sundays | Week 4

It's week four of Church Sundays, and I'm ready to get started!  This Sunday's church is the Chartres Cathedral about 50 miles southwest of Paris.  It is one of the finest churches of France's High Gothic style.  A very old cathedral, it was constructed around 1193 and 1250.  The church has a rather quite amazing state of preservation.  Most of its stain glass windows are still intact!  This church is magnificent!

Church Sundays || Week 3

Church Sundays is back from a long vacation!  I haven't posted Church Sundays in almost a month.  It is time to get started!  This Sunday's church is the Washington D.C. National Cathedral, and its name tells where it is.  I went inside this cathedral in the summer of 2009.  In fact, I have video of it.  Forgive me if the camera is a little wobbly.  My video taking skills weren't as good as they are now!

As you saw in the video, this church is pretty cool.  I hope I can go back to the east coast again!

Church Sunday's #2

     Bienvenidos a mi segundo Iglesia del domingo mensaje!  (Welcome to my second Church Sunday's post!)  Since this Sunday's church is a cathedral in Spain, I thought I would speak a little Spanish to set the mood!

This cathedral is the Leon Cathedral in Spain.

This is a gorgeous picture from inside the cathedral.

What a great way to end Church Sunday's for Feburary 13th!
Enjoy the ARCHITECTURE!
