Quoted | Why?

"Why can't we have those curves and arches that express feeling in design? What is wrong with them? Why has everything got to be vertical, straight, unbending, only at right angles - and functional?"

- Charles, Prince of Wales

  1. To answer this question, take a look at Vitruvius, the 'father' of architecture. There is more responsibility of an architect than just "feels good." Do some Research on "firmitas, utilitas, venustas" Most of the time, vertical and straight lines means less money, and sometimes that's all the owner can afford.

  2. Hey rkitect thanks for again commenting and answering this question. And I agree, most of the time, you can only afford so much, which can limit your design. By the way, I will look at the stuff you mentioned. - Zach
