Here are some sample pictures of two house designs made in Minecraft on our server as a test. The design mostly focused on the outside of the house instead of the inside. And both of the styles resemble Swedish/Mountain homes.

Both houses mostly used log for the roof and frame. For the floor, they both had wooden planks. House 1 used redwood for its dark frame and no cobblestone was used either. Cobblestone can be seen on the last picture above in House 2 as the bottom frame.
