Minecraft Creations | Lionel Update

This past weekend through today, we have been working on the City of Lionel.  (the temple I showed on my previous Minecraft Creations post is part of the city)  In these past couple of days we have completed alot: a massive 200 block by 200 block wall, a harbor, and more housing.  The main things I am going to show are the wall and harbor.

Here is a overall view of the city.  As you can see in the bottom of the picture we have a completed harbor with 6 ships.  The cool thing is we can actually move them using a Minecraft server Bukkit plugin called Movecraft.  It allows us to steer the ships and sail them.  First of all, the architecture in the city is overall, stunning.  Again, this is one of my favorite styles.  (Lord of the Rings)

The original design of the ship was copied to make 5 other replicas.  We eventually decided that we wanted to color and design our own sails.  (the original was white)  The picture at the top is my friend Jacob's ship.

"Is it architecture?" Some might add that boats or ships aren't architecture at all.  But technically, I believe they are.  You could say they are "moving" pieces of architecture that serve a great purpose.  Besides, think about it.  Ships or boats have a design that was put together in a creative way.  It is architecture, just not what most people see as a building.  (floating building? maybe)

This ship is another one made by Jacob called the Juggernaut.  It is a massive piece of floating building!  (Did you get that? Ha!)  Seriously, it is pretty cool!  Now it's time for the giant wall.

Here is another view of the full harbor.  And here are the names of the ships right to left: The OCS'er (that is my little brother's by the way), the Batboat, the Crafter, the Interceptor, the Lion, and the Falcon.

The 200 block by 200 block wall serves a very important purpose.  (in real life)  But in virtual Minecraft, it is really only aesthetics.  Don't get me wrong, it is an amazing looking wall; mostly compiled out of the newest block added to the game: stone brick.  And who doesn't love the gold block design on the front gate?  Here is something about the gate: it started out very small.  Then we started to make ships; so I noticed it needed to be bigger.  (it takes awhile to widen a 5 block thick wall on both sides by hand!)  But then Jacob's Juggernaut came along.  (tall and mighty)  We had to widen it even further, but it's worth it because it looks pretty cool!

This is the final picture of the city.  (Harbor at the bottom, and temple at the top)  Eventually, we plan to fully complete the city and fill up the wall.  (considering we don't need anymore room and won't have to widen it)  I hope you enjoyed this post on Lionel.  As the city grows, I will be posting updates quite often.  (probably once a week)  When the city is finally completed, I think I will do a massive post (maybe even split it up into parts) and go through even the little parts of the city's architecture.  More REAL architecture is coming tomorrow!  And next week or this weekend, be looking for an update on the City of Lionel.
